"All that is gold does not glitter,
not all those who wander are lost;
the old that is strong does not wither,
deep roots are not reached by the frost.”
— J.R.R. Tolkien

If Thanksgiving is the most notable November celebration in America, The 19th of November is certainly the most overlooked. Probably just a few history majors and Jeopardy winners will answer correctly regarding the significance of November 19th in US History — “What is the Gettysburg Address?”

This year, in particular, it is worth taking some time to reflect on those remarkable 272 words that Lincoln delivered to upwards of 20,000 people who had gathered to hear him on that clear November morning at the National Soldiers Cemetery in Gettysburg.

Now rededicated to the great task still remains before us.
Now we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain.
Now this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom.
Now government of the people, by the people, for the people,
shall not perish from the earth.
